State of Hawaii Lemon Law
The Hawaii Lemon Law was developed to safeguard consumer rights when purchasing a new vehicle. The Law can be arbitrated by the State Certified Arbitration Program which is operated by the Regulated Industries Complaints Office will accept and aid in legitimate complaints regarding vehicles that violate.
State Covers
New Vehicles – The law covers new vehicles for up to Two (2) years after the sale date or Twenty-Four Thousand (24,000) Miles (mi.) whichever comes first. The vehicle must be under warranty when a defect causes a malfunction, this is the case if the vehicle is under warranty and transferred to a second owner.
Used Vehicles – No Law.
Pets – No Law.
The Hawaii Lemon Law does give consumers protection if they have purchased or leased a new vehicle that falls within the definition of being a lemon.
