State of California Lemon Laws
The California Lemon Laws give vehicle owners the option of seeking reparations from a manufacturer for a recently purchased new vehicle with a serious warranty malfunction. The Better Business Bureau will take action by assuming the role of a third party and neutral arbiter in the event of a lemon law dispute.
State Covers
New Vehicles – The California Lemon Laws will protect new vehicles that were purchased for personal use and in some cases business use (it cannot weigh more than ten thousand pounds and the owner cannot have more than four vehicles). This law will protect those who have purchased, leased, or leased to buy a new vehicle.
Used Vehicles – The California Lemon Laws may not necessarily have been designed for used vehicles, however in some cases they may be applicable. This is especially true if the used vehicle is still under the original warranty and protection period the California Lemon Laws offer new vehicles.
Pets – The California Lemon Laws for Pets concerns mainly dogs. If a pet owner purchases a dog then later finds out through a veterinarian the animal has a serious and potentially costly medical condition, that pet owner will be entitled to reimbursement and/or refund.
