State of Florida Lemon Laws

The Florida Lemon Law falls within the Florida Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act which protects consumers who purchase a new vehicle. The Florida New Vehicle Arbitration Board will aid consumers whose new vehicles fall under the protection of the Florida Lemon Law.

State Covers

New Vehicles – New Vehicles that are used for personal or household purposes. This includes cars and trucks and RV’s. The living quarters of the RV is NOT covered (only the motor vehicle parts). Leased vehicles that are leased for purchase are covered. If it is not a lease for purchase, the lease must be for at least one year requiring the lessee to finance repairs.

Used Vehicles – No Law.

Pets – Enforced with sellers who sell 2 litters or 20 dogs per year. Applies to animals with contagious diseases or congenital/hereditary defects.
