Each entry should be descriptive and dated.

Step 3. Once the time to file a complaint approaches (and this must be within the lemon laws protection period), vehicle owners should send a written complaint via registered mail. This is because they are likely to have to prove they filed a complaint within a certain time frame after the delivery date of the vehicle.

Step  4. Vehicle owners must afford a reasonable number of manufacturer warranty defect complaints however do retain the right to insist upon a replacement vehicle or refund if the warranty defect proves irreparable. This should be done by giving the manufacturer a final opportunity to permanently repair the issue with the knowledge the consumer will invoke a lemon law remedy if unsuccessful. This must be in writing and sent via registered mail. Consumer should send a Final Notice to Repair, Replace or Repurchase and make sure it is very clearly worded.

Step 5. Consumers should consult the warranty. If it lists a dispute program that is both approved by the Alaska Attorney General AND is compliant with 16 C.R.F. 703, the consumer must participate in it. This is an obligation under the Alaska Lemon Laws however the consumer is not bound by the decisions of this process. Consumers should consult the warranty for this information.

Step  6. The Better Business Bureau provides the ability to file a complaint online through either their Auto Line Program or through the main site.
